Course Description
A series of lecture classes designed to give the student a basic background of 
shampooing, haircutting and all types of hairstyling.

1.	Communication - Use listening and verbal skills with clients and co-workers.
2.	Critical Thinking and Problem Solving - Evaluate service situations on an 
individual client basis utilizing problem solving skills
3.	Technology - Use appropriate cosmetology implements in all service areas.
4.	Personal Responsibility - Use learned skills in safety and sanitary procedures 
both in personal and public health

General Course Objectives
At the end of the course the student will understand:

1.	The importance of sanitation procedures.
2.	Reasons for draping the clients.
3.	The importance of shampooing.
4.	Implements and terminology used in haircutting.
5.	Implements and terminology used in hairstyling.
6.	Facial shapes, head forms and profiles relating to haircutting and hairstyling.
7.	Types of electricity as applies to barbering.
8.	Types of electrical equipment used in the practice of barbering.
9.	The effects and benefits of scalp massage.
10.	Reasons for scalp and hair care.
11.	The study of Trichology.
12.	The ability to recognize scalp and hair diseases and disorders.
13.	Safety in the use of equipment and implements.
14.	First aid techniques.
