SSCC LIBRARY PROCEDURES
QUICK REFERENCE: CIRCULATION
CHECKING OUT BOOKS
►Categories of borrowers: Students – for 2 weeks Must show student ID card. (If student has no card, student may have 2 “grace” checkouts. In this case, student must present official Washington State ID, and be in the Voyager or present evidence of registration. Grace checkouts must be noted in a pop-up note in the patron record.)
Faculty– until end of quarter Must show SCCD employee card / SSCC ID card. If faculty member is known to you, you may check out items to him without a card.
Staff and administrators – for 2 weeks Must show SCCD employee card / SSCC ID card. If employee is known to you, you may check out items to him without a card.
Community borrowers – for 2 weeks Must show SSCC ID card. No grace checkouts allowed.
SSCC ID CARD ►Photo ID can be obtained in Registration.
►Must present Washington State photo ID, or other official ID.
►Cost: $5

Must show student ID card. (If student has no card, student may have 2 “grace” checkouts. In this case, student must present official Washington State ID, and be in the Voyager or present evidence of registration. Grace checkouts must be noted in a pop-up note in the patron record.)
Faulty, staff and administrators – for one week Extended check out is given upon request.
Current issues in plastic covers are for library use only and cannot be checked out.

Students – for one week

Faculty, staff and administrators – for one week Extended checkout will be given upon request.
CHECKING OUT RESERVE MATERIALS ►Categories of borrowers: Students only
Must show student ID card. (If student has no card, student may have 2 “grace” checkouts. In this case, student must present official Washington State ID, and be in the Voyager or present evidence of registration. Grace checkouts must be noted in a pop-up note in the patron record.)
An instructor may place items on reserve for his/her class to be used by the students in that class only as an addition resource to the textbook or the textbook if it not in stock at the bookstore. Reserves are placed on the shelf in order of class name and number.
The instructor decides how long a student may check out reserve materials.
1 – 4 hours – in library use only Overnight – due next day
Reserve materials are placed on reserve for longer period of time by the instructors; 1 week – 2 months
Reserve materials cannot be renewed; it must be return at its due date.
WHO & HOW CAN MATERIALS BE PLACE ON RESERVES An instructor places materials on reserve to be used by his/her students for that class. The instructor must fill out a “Reserve Book Inventory Form “ which tells the library staff and his/her students how long the student may keep the item/items in one checkout time. The student may not renew these materials because they there for the entire class.
